Cross Country Yukon helps organize and facilitate xc skiing specific Coaching Courses every year. If you are interested in coaching, or becoming certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), please do not hesitate to contact us.
Note: Coaching Certification Cross Country Canada Policy – Minimum Mandatory Qualifications
Coaches must complete a coaching workshop and RCMP check in order to supervise, instruct or coach ski activities for children under 16 years of age.
If an individual assisting a group and is following behind the last skier, or helping to put on gloves and skis, they do not require minimum training…only an RCMP check.

Contact [email protected] (Amanda) for more information on these courses!

This first step towards becoming certified is now available online!
An individual must take both “Initiation to Coaching” module (1hr) and the “Introduction to Community Coaching (ICC)” module (4-5hrs).

There is a small fee for these two on-line courses for which likely your ski program will provide reimbursement.
After completing these two modules an individual is considered to be “a Community Coach in Training”, and is eligible to take the Community Coaching Workshop.

You MUST complete these 2 online courses before you can attend the NCCP course. But, you can register for the NCCP course before you’ve completed the online courses.
